The company was registered in 1981 as Rhenus Transport International as the Harare branch of the then Rhenus network reporting to Rhenus South Africa.
The main business was a rail groupage service with a staff compliment of three persons. Shortly afterwards a Bulawayo office of three persons was also established.
Rhenus and Schenker merged in 1992 and, in August 1994, the Zimbabwean office changed it’s name to Schenker International Zimbabwe P/L reporting to Schenker South Africa.
By 1996 the Harare office expanded to fourteen persons operating a 600 sq mtr warehouse and offering all aspects of freight forwarding. The Bulawayo office was however closed in 1997 as it was not viable.
The Zimbabwean economy, after a short boom in the mid 1990s, started to waver in late 1997 and by mid 1999 Schenker offered a management buy out to the General Manager, Mr. R.C Scott. This was accepted and by December 1999 the company changed it's name to Incofreight P/L.
An agency agreement was signed with Schenker Germany and this remained in effect until May 2007.
In June 2007 Incofreight entered into an agency agreement with DACHSER; a German freight forwarding company with offices in Europe, USA and the Far East.
In February 2009 Incofreight moved to larger premises due to an upturn in the economy and also became the depot handling agent for ECU Worldwide in 2012 and a member of the WACO worldwide agency network in 2017.
In 2012 we opened a Beitbridge office to support our roadfreight groupage operations and working with South African groupage specialists CWC Road Consolidators
In July 2017, we entered into a joint venture with Cheetah Express, rebranded and established a Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearing Company called Bastion Freight (Pvt) Ltd t/a Incofreight.
As at May 2018 we employ 22 staff in Harare and 5 at Beitbridge.
Incofreight derives it's name from Incoterms…the international commerce terms which are used every day in our business as Freight Forwarders.
